Kensington Education Foundation (KEF)

The Kensington Education Foundation was founded over 30 years ago to fill in the gaps left by state-wide budget cuts to public education. Since then, the all-volunteer board has worked to carry out the organizational mission and adapt to changes in the educational environment over time, identifying areas where new or additional support may be needed and fundraising to meet those needs.

Our mission

By raising funds from the Kensington Hilltop community, the Kensington Education Foundation (KEF) provides hands-on learning experiences and resources for Hilltop students that complement the standards-based classroom learning funded by our school district.

Enrichment

KEF programs take place during the school day and include:

  • Salaries for 14 enrichment teachers and aides.

  • Science/STEAM Enrichment classes, grade-level science experiences, STEAM night, and Science Fair to spark students’ curiosity.

  • Art and Music classes to inspire students’ creativity.

  • Library classes to foster a love of reading.

  • Physical Education classes, Recess Support, and Running Club to help kids stay active and build valuable life skills through play.

  • Restorative Coaching to support conflict resolution on the playground

  • Academic support in Reading & Math for students who may need extra attention to achieve grade-level success.

  • Classroom teacher professional development, instructional materials, and curriculum

We also fund school resources, including classroom teacher professional development, curriculum, and instructional materials.
